1. Your planner has the connections...and they will hook you up!
When you hire a planner, you are partnering with someone who has invested countless hours building working relationships with vendors. A planner knows who to trust and who to shy away from. A planner knows how to choose a vendor based exactly on the specific needs of your wedding. For example, are you looking for a hairdresser that specializes in boho braids, 50's curls, or fancy up-dos? A planner can partner you with exactly the right vendor.
2. Everyone is busy!
Let's agree, everyone is busy! Including you! Why add the time-consuming job of wedding planning to your already full plate?
3. You may not actually save money
Doing all the planning yourself can very quickly result in costly mistakes. For example, booking the most well-known (and pricey) venue, because you had no idea about the beautiful hole in the wall B&B. Or, hitting up Goodwill or Dollar Tree for 200 shabby chic candles because it's cheap? Right? Not always the case! You could have rented from a local vendor for much cheaper....besides, who needs 200 candles post wedding anyway? Oh, and let's not even talk about the last-minute dress change, when that online vendor falls through!
4. Don't stress out yo' mama!
Whether it's your wedding day, your kid's birthday party, or even a bridal shower...we all rely on our mamas. A lot! And they love to help us, true; but they also like to enjoy these days. This is their daughter's wedding day! Let's give her a break!
5. Who doesn't want their own personal cheerleader?
This is one of the most special and emotional times of your life. I do everything I can to get to know you before your wedding, which means I basically become your personal cheerleader. I'm the cheerleader with the water bottle and the tissues on your special day!
6. My venue has a planner....eh, kind of
Many venues provide an "event coordinator." While some of these are actual event planners, most are NOT! This person may end up being very helpful, BUT a lot of the time they are just a glorified key holder. They will unlock the door for you, and take out the trash at the end of the night. Be sure to check with your venue about this person's responsibilities before you decide against an outside planner!
7. Relax and enjoy your day
Finally, even if you plan the best wedding in the world, there are still countless questions to answer and decisions to be made during the day. Event staff need a leader; a point person to give them direction when something breaks or an emotional guest thinks her purse has been stolen. This shouldn’t be you. You deserve to enjoy your day. You should be free to mingle with your friends and family, enjoy your food, and smile for all the pictures!
