I’d like to start this post by saying ultimately, your guests will be happy just to be at the wedding and celebrating with you. So, no matter what favor you pick (if you choose to have favors at all) don’t fret. YOU and your fiance are the highlight of your wedding; not your wedding favors.
All that being said, if you are going to spend your hard-earned dollars on wedding favors…they might as well be good ones! So, here are a few tips to help guide you.
1. Stop the monogram madness!
Monograms are beautiful...on invitations, programs, menus, and walls. But, let’s be honest…do you really want a random pen or coaster in your home that has someone else’s name on it?? It’s adorable at the wedding…but what happens to it afterward?
There is a big trend right now pushing for minimal living (a trend that I COMPLETELY support btw haha). With this push towards de-cluttering in our society; the last thing people want is a random knickknack they feel pressured to keep because it’s “special.” So please, let’s agree to give it a rest and stop putting our names on everything.
(If tip #1 got you down don’t stop reading! Because tip #2 is a game changer for those of you attached to monograms.)
2. Just because your love will last forever, doesn’t mean the wedding favors should.
In my opinion, the best wedding favors are always something intended to be temporary. Below is a list of fantastic one-use favor options.
Candy, Local Honey, or Jam “Love is Sweet”
Soda or Cake Pops “Thank you for Popping by to Celebrate”
Jars of Tea Leaves or Coffee Beans “Love is Brewing”
Mints “We are Mint to Be”
Seeds or Small Plants “Watch Love Grow”
Candle “Let Love Glow”
These are also favors that can be monogrammed without giving the impression you wish your name to be
forever displayed in your guest’s home.
If you want to know what favors will go fast at a wedding; look no further than something you can eat!!
3. Interaction for the win!
Finally, an interactive favor option is always fun, especially for those guests who will not be getting their groove on. Below are some interactive options.
Make and Take Bar - Candy, Popcorn, Trail Mix, Decorate a cookie or cupcake
Small Games - Tic Tac Toe in a Small Cloth Bag
Photobooth! - Most professional photobooth companies will print out photo strips for guests to take home with them! The strips can often be customized to match your wedding! My personal favorite for all you Ohio brides is Melanie at www.voguephotobooths.org
I hope this information was helpful. I would love to know about the best wedding favor you have ever received! Let me know in the comments!
