When I started working on this shoot it all seemed to come together around the idea of wildflowers. They are all so different. They have that element of imperfection that we all crave to see more of in our Instagram perfect world. Wildflowers, to me, represent authenticity and perfect imperfection.
So, here’s my authenticity…
The past month was a bottle of worries for me. And, the worst part….I didn’t even know what I was worried about?! Literally. Nothing specific was going on for me to worry about. I just felt a general state of unsettled…
Don’t get me wrong this worry wasn’t all consuming. Just a bit of a bother. Not the kind that makes you cry….but just enough to not smile as much. The kind that leaves you craving chips and salsa constantly (my personal indulgence) because it just tastes like happy!
Side note: I had no idea how much my emotions are affected by food!! What??? Guess I should work on that.
The thing about wildflowers is … they don’t worry.
I know what you are thinking…..of course they don’t worry! What does a flower have to worry about?
Matthew 6: 28-30
“See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you…you of little faith?”
The past month I have been “you of little faith.” But, today is the day that I am choosing to be… a wildflower. I am trading worry for truth and keeping it close. Truth: God cares for me, and because of that I do not need to worry.
So, today I will leave me stress levels behind. Today, I will be a wildflower.
